The Guardians – John Grisham

The Guardians by John Grisham differs slightly from the usual legal thriller. Not much courtroom drama, but more investigation. A public defender, Cullen Post, gets burned out, quits the law, gets his calling to enter the Episcopal priesthood. Lo-and-behold, God wants him to be a lawyer again—this time using his legal skills to help exonerate innocent inmates.

The outfit he works for is The Guardian Ministries. This one client is not getting the needle, but life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. When Post and his team are close to the truth, someone attacks the client in prison and almost kills him.

Politics, corruption, mystery, it’s all there in the story. Very entertaining.
