The past weekend was busy. I was distracted, not just by the news about HK (see here), but it was Father’s Day. Two of my daughters’ birthdays are this week. So, a lot is happening. I also finished Janet Evanovich’s & Peter Evanovich’s book, The Big Kahuna, A Fox & O’Hare novel. It is not realistic, but funny. It is just her style.
As you probably guess, I still don’t know which way I should go. The funny thing is that the more I read about self-publishing, the more I think, “Oh, I can do this. This is great.” And then, I remember what I had to do to get just one novella (& not the best) to publish. Then when I read something else about traditional publishing, I think, “I‘m not going to find an agent, let alone a publisher.”
Do you ever do that? Always doubting yourself? I listened to a “lecture” about being a productive writer. She gave a few tips on how to be productive. Change the mindset, schedule, etc.
Anyway, I think I need to change my mindset. After all, I finished a book. Evidently, many people think they’ll write a book, but only a tiny percentage, like maybe 2%, will do it. So, I should keep telling myself that I can do this.
So, now, I’ll just write. When it’s finished, I’ll figure out my next step. Sounds good?
Oh, I’m giving myself a deadline, this Friday, to post a short story. If you’ve read the novella, the events happen during the three-month period before the last chapter.
